Biography

Daniela Puzzo began studying piano at the age of 6 and graduated in music in 1993 with Prof. Nicoletta Luglio in Caltanissetta, Italy. From a very young age she performed piano concerts in Italy and abroad. From 1999 on she has collaborated with the “Convivio Artistico Crocellà” Association in Catania which organizes events with both professionals and university students. During the same period she started to accompany lyric singers, such as Antonino Interisano, a famous Italian tenor. In 2001 she joined the “Music and Medicine” national competition in Rome, ranking IV. In 2004, together with Giorgio Rizzo, a percussionist who plays Arabic instruments, she started the Riveduti e Corretti Duo based on an original fusion of traditional Arabic music with European classical music. Daniela’s major music project consists of a trilogy of contemporary lyric Operas, named "Selenal", "Nikael”, “Marael”. She has performed selected arias of her operas at the Puffin Cultural Center (NJ, USA). The New York City premiere of "Selenal" has been performed at the Italian Academy on the 2nd of March 2007.

Daniela Puzzo is also a neuroscientist at the University of Catania, Italy. She graduated in Medicine and Surgery with honours and obtained her PhD in ”Applied Biomedical Sciences” at the University of Catania. She has also obtained a Degree in Acupuncture. She has attended several masters in natural medicine, homeopathy, kinesiology, bioenergetics and she is studying as a Gestalt psychotherapist. She has been a fellow of the Italian Academy during the Fall 2006. At this moment she is a research scientist in the laboratory of Prof. Ottavio Arancio at Columbia University, New York.
